Michigan Ultraviolet Light Treatment

There are always advances being made in treating skin conditions. MidMichigan Dermatology keeps pace with new technology so that we can better serve our patients. Ultraviolet Light Treatment in Midland, MI, is one of the modern treatments we offer.

This non-invasive treatment works by exposing affected skin areas to ultraviolet (UV) light. The light works by decreasing inflammation and also slowing skin cell production that can cause conditions to worsen. It is also effective in the treatment of skin tumors and can help wounds heal. It effectively improves multiple dermatologic conditions such as psoriasis, scleroderma, eczema, dermatitis, and vitiligo. UV treatment is also known as phototherapy.

UV light therapy is provided in two different bands, UVA and UVB. They both can reduce inflammation and help provide relief from itchy skin. Narrowband UVB light is most commonly used to help with eczema.

It is best to only receive UV light treatment from a board-certified dermatologist. It is not recommended to attempt to treat your skin condition by using a tanning bed and sun lamp, for example.
